ENTITLEMENT

Hi lovies...

So, I want to keep it real with you all as always.

I am in a weird place right now. I can't say much about it except that it is new and it is a space that I have been ushered into by Yah. While here I have been feeling all the things. So I want to share a bit on entitlement with you.

There is something known as entitlement and as disciples of God there's a level of Entitlement that fills the air around us as kingdom dwellers...yeah it kinda sounds like favour. This however can become dangerous if not managed. You see, there's a difference between us having entitlement as in access - legal right to something because of who God is and us thinking that we are entitled to something as in deserving of it. Yes we have legal rights to things because of our adopted sonship (Ephesians 1:5, Galatians 4:5-7) but does that mean that we are deserving of said rights gained? NO! We are not deserving of it. This is because we have a sinful nature and what we are deserving of is death - for the wages of sin is death... (Romans 6:23). Yet, God's sacrifice abdicated us from that and has allowed us the legal rights to Kingdom things: mysteries, rewards, promises, secrets, giftings etc.

As such, we need to be careful of developing a spirit of entitlement or what can be described as a sense of entitlement. We have to understand that although we have access to things it is still at the discretion of our Father. Yah gets to decide if and when we gain access to things. More over, He knows if this thing is in line with His will for our lives which is another major factor to consider when talking about what we are or aren't "entitled" to. When we are plagued by a spirit of entitlement however, we forget that God gets the final say. We function as if we have somehow done something to earn such an access - as if the faithfulness we have displayed in life, business, ministry somehow is adequately proportionate to the sacrifice on the cross - as if we've hit a quota that says this is my reward. We fast and pray, show up and serve, give to those indeed, fellowship every Sunday and run through a list of things that we think will qualify us for God's good thing but Psalm 84:11 says no good thing will He withhold from them that walk uprightly. No good thing will HE withhold - this portion speaks to the one who is in control, the one who has the power to give, the one who is doing the assessing and even after He has decided that we are walking uprightly and should receive said good thing we forget the most important thing...His Timing! This might not apply to you'll because we all have different struggles and some of us are better at waiting than others but me...I found myself carrying like a banner this spirit of entitlement.

I was walking around in this season that feels like perpetual waiting - like solitary confinement with a bad case of 'I deserve this break' energy ... but the beauty of relationship with the Almighty is that He speaks and He got me right real quick too. There's this way Yah humbles you... I love most that it's never public. It's not always gentle but love isn't either so I am grateful. What I've leant:

• God desires to bless us because of who He is and because we are His children

• God decides what we deserve and when...we don't

• God prepares us for what He has decided to give us access to

• God loves us enough to withhold what we are not ready for

• God does not acknowledge what we think we are entitled to

• Entitlement takes the glory from God and places it on us

• Entitlement can be detrimental to destinies

• Entitlement can result in forfeiture of ministries

• Entitlement is rooted in pride; God honors the humble

Are we entitled or do we carry with us the spirit of entitlement? Even those who have legal rights can't access what is not given to them. For instance, if a wealthy man sets up a trust for his children, technically they have legal rights to it, however, there maybe stipulations that affect their access such as an age requirement. Thus until they meet those requirements someone else has to grant permission to access (authorize) what they have legal rights to. The same applies to Kingdom things - whilst we may have legal rights, we may not have reached the stipulated requirements for access. The spirit of entitlement demands access BEFORE readiness. So let's ask ourselves the question before going to God regarding His timeline...especially if you're in a waiting season like me - are we entitled or do we carry with us the spirit of entitlement?

I leave with you Isaiah 40:31- "But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint." Continue to be blessed! Remember God loves you and I do too.
